NoScript

  • NoScript Firefox extension provides extra protection for Firefox, Flock, Seamonkey and other mozilla-based browsers: this free, open source add-on allows JavaScript, Java, Flash and other plugins to be executed only by trusted web sites of your choice (e.g. your online bank), and provides the most powerful Anti-Cross-site scripting (XSS) protection available in a browser.
  • As NoScript requires user interaction to train it, you may want to do the following:
    1. Install uBlock Origin
    2. Install NoScript
    3. Go into Add-ons Manager > Extensions
    4. Disable NoScript, but, choose “No, just stop blocking scripts” when you see the Security Downgrade Warning.

OneTab

  • Whenever you find yourself with too many tabs, click the OneTab icon to convert all of your tabs into a list.
  • When you need to access the tabs again, you can either restore them individually or all at once.

Tree Style Tab

Gmail by Google

  • Free Web-based e-mail with losts of on-line storage. Supports POP3 (Post Office Protocol) and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) so you can use Thunderbird to access your Gmail account. Using Thunderbird allows you to store your e-mail locally which allows you to backup your e-mail.
  • To backup your Gmail by downloading all the mail to your your local hard drive
    • Go to: Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab > POP Download section:
      1. Enable POP for all mail (even mail that’s already been downloaded)
      2. When messages are accessed with POP “keep Gmail’s copy in the Inbox”
    • This setting will leave everything on-line in Gmail but you’ll have a local duplicate of everything in Thunderbird that you can then backup.
  • If you can’t afford to loose the contents of your Gmail account, then make sure to download and backup on a regular basis.
