Use the following recommendations before adding any content to iTunes or synching any devices with iTunes.

Edit Menu > Preferences > General tab

• When you insert a CD: Ask to Import CD
• Import Settings
  • Import Using: MP3 Encoder
  • 
  • Settings: Custom… > MP3 Encoder
    • Stereo Bit Rate: 320 kbps
    • Enable: Use Variable Bit Rate Encoding (VBR), Quality: Highest
    • 
• Enable: Use error correction when reading Audio CDs

 

Edit Menu > Preferences > Advanced tab

• Enable: Keep iTunes Media folder organized
• Enable: Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library

Edit Menu > Preferences > Devices tab

• Enable: Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from synching automatically
