Health & Nutritional Education / Reference

Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing and any other purpose.

While vegans follow an animal-free/plant-based diet, they also do not wear animals or use them for entertainment or any other purpose.

The word "vegan" was coined in 1944 by Donald Watson of the Vegan Society of the UK.

Pressure Cooker

A pressue cooker is versitle piece of hardware to have in your kitchen.

Some people have concerns/fears of pressure cookers, but many of the current models have additional safety features. Make sure to read, not skim, the owner's manual before using one.

It takes time for the water to boil and proper pressure to build up. Any where from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the quantity of water and the wattage of the unit. If you could cook the food via conventional means in 20 minutes or less, then maybe you should do that instead of using the pressure cooker.
